Former medical call dispatch process restored in Memramcook

By Tara Clow Oct 6, 2023 | 12:37 PM

Ambulance New Brunswick is returning to its former dispatching process for medical calls.

This follows a review by the Department of Health in consultation with ANB’s Provincial Medical Director.

In January, fire departments received fewer medical calls following the launch of new dispatch software by Ambulance New Brunswick’s Medical Communications Management Centre.

The Village of Memramcook supports the return to the previous dispatching process, stating it is crucial to anyone facing a medical emergency, especially those in rural areas.

“The municipality has made significant investments over the years in training and equipping its volunteer firefighters in order to provide first response services and improve the quality of emergency services offered to its residents. The Memramcook Fire Department is an indispensable resource to the community, and it’s thanks to its proximity and rapid actions that many lives have been saved over the years.  This review to recall dispatch process will help ease concerns, and more importantly, save lives, ” says Mayor Maxime O. Bourgeois.
