Water levels increase slightly

By Tim Davidson Oct 5, 2023 | 1:28 PM

All the rain this week in the Kenora area means water levels on Lake of the Woods increased slightly, ending weeks of decline.

The lake level has gone up about two centimeters this past week, and is expected to remain stable over the next seven days.

Despite the rain, the drainage basin remains in a moderate drought situation and tributary flows are still low.

The Lake of the Woods Control Board says it will increase outflows from the Norman Dam slightly today.

As a result, water levels on the Winnipeg River below the dam will rise about 8 centimeters and 3 centimeters at the Dalles.
