Saint John Transit users on the city’s east side will soon notice several changes.

Starting Oct. 2, most routes will see expanded hours and frequency on weekdays.

Route 30 (Champlain Heights) and Route 31 (Forest Glen) will also see increased service on Saturdays.

Transit officials said there will also be changes to some routing on the east side.

Route 32 (Loch Lomond) will use Mountain View Drive, the Silver Falls area will be serviced by Route 30, and Route 31 will now use Westmorland Road.

A new express route will offer direct service between King’s Square and NBCC during the early morning and afternoon.

Route 35 NBCC Express will offer 20-minute service from the first Tuesday after Labour Day until the end of June and 40-minute service during the summer months.

On-demand FLEX service is also being added in the area east of McAllister Drive, west of Lakeview Drive, north of Loch Lomond Road, and south of Westmorland Road.

Riders can travel between stops in the east FLEX zone or transfer to other lines at McAllister Place.

Service will be available from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday.

You will use the Saint John Transit Flex app or call a dispatcher at 506-652-3539 to schedule a ride. The app or the dispatcher will let you know when to meet the bus at the stop, depending on preference.

Riders are able to request the quickest available bus, book a ride for later, or request the time to arrive at their destination within the zone. The goal is to have the bus arrive at the requested stop within half an hour of the request.

Route 9E McAllister Place

• There will be an additional trip from UNB at 6:15 a.m.

Route 30 Champlain Heights

• Monday to Friday service begins from McAllister Place at 6:10 a.m., with half-hour service until 6:40 p.m. and hourly service until 9:35 p.m.
• Saturday service begins from McAllister Place at 8:10 a.m., with hourly service until 6:35 p.m.
• Will service the Silver Falls area.
• Will not service Mountain Road.

Route 31 Forest Glen

• Monday to Friday service begins from McAllister Place at 6:10 a.m., with half-hour service until 6:40 p.m., and hourly service until 10:05 p.m.
• Saturday service begins from McAllister Place at 7:40 a.m., with hourly service until 7:05 p.m.
• Sunday service remains the same.
• Stops have been added on Westmorland Road.
• Stops on McAllister Drive will be discontinued.

Route 32 Loch Lomond

• Service begins earlier and ends later with two additional runs added.
• Route 32 will use Mountain View Drive and Mountain Road.

Route 33 Champlain Lakewood (formerly known as Champlain Express)

• Hourly service from King’s Square from 6:50 a.m. until 8:50 a.m. and 3:50 p.m. until 5:50 p.m.
