By Kevin Northup Sep 29, 2023 | 4:00 PM

A new nursing home is ready in the Municipality of Clare.

The Villa Acadienne had its official opening today.

It houses 10 more rooms than the previous building, each has its own private washroom.

Argyle MLA Colton LeBlanc says it’s a good day for the area.

“This is an investment in those that have taken care of us, and now we can take care of them. Any day like that is a good day for Nova Scotia, and we’re looking forward to continuing to support our seniors,” said LeBlanc.

It’s the first of 9 long-term care homes slated for replacement in the Western Zone.

The province says 34 new facilities will be open across the province by 2027, adding 1,200 new rooms.

Minister of Seniors and Long-Term Care Barbara Adams was also in attendance, we’ll have more with the Minister next week.
