Drug Amnesty Day Event - CJ Goater

NorWest Community Health Centres held a Drug Amnesty Day event with Thunder Bay Police on Thursday ahead of National Drug Amnesty Day.

Members of the community had an opportunity to safely dispose of expired, and unused medications, as well as illegal drugs and related paraphernalia.

Jennifer Anderson director of community and health programs at NorWest Community Health Centres highlighted a successful collection, “we have about 20 litres of prescription medications that have been dropped off, and they will be securely disposed of at a pharmacy later today.”

The proper disposal of medications ensures they are not shared, misused, or dumped into our water system potentially causing water contamination.

Residents are still able to return expired medication to pharmacies even if they missed the event.
