A flash mob for Truth and Reconciliation.
Students from St. Thomas Aquinas School closed down a major intersection in downtown Kenora Friday morning.
Guidance councillor Katie Jackson says this is the brainchild of their First Nations/Metis/Inuit Advisory Committee.
“We want to show that the younger generation wants to be a part of this change, because they have very strong and powerful voices, and we want to show Kenora that we are here and we want to support,” states Jackson.
“It’s kind of like taking a moment of silence…of being part of this healing journey.”
Shawana Rae is a T.A. student and was at the center of the flash mob with her drum and doing a song.
“It’s called the friendship song, so basically everyone is considered equal during that song.”
The flash mob was at the intersection of Matheson and First Streets South.
