UPDATE:
No injuries were reported but significant damage can be seen to part of a north side home following a house fire Tuesday afternoon.

Thunder Bay Fire Rescue were called to the Gordon Avenue home just before 2:45 p.m. and encountered heavy smoke and flame on the main floor of the home.

The incident commander declared an “offensive” strategy with an exterior attack with hoses, which brought the fire under control and prevented it from spreading elsewhere in the home.

Seven pumpers, an aerial ladder truck and a command vehicle could be seen along with more than a dozen fire fighters along with support from Superior North EMS.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
