One person has been sent to hospital following a house fire on the city’s north side Sunday night.

Thunder Bay Fire Rescue were called to a Rockwood Avenue South home around 8:00 p.m. with arriving crews reporting smoke coming from a second floor window.

Prompting a call for additional units.

Initial attack was able to bring the fire under control quickly, with other fire crews reinforcing that attack to ensure the fire was completely extinguished.

One person was injured as a result of the fire and was taken to hospital by paramedics.

The quick response and attack by firefighters kept the fire contained to a single room, preventing it from spreading to the rest of the home.

Residents are reminded to ensure their smoke alarms work and are located on all floors in the home, as well that carbon monoxide alarms are outside of all sleeping areas.
