Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his wife Olena Zelenska are currently in Canada on a brief visit.

Zelenskyy is set to address the House of Commons at 1 p.m. EST.

This is Zelenskyy’s first visit to Canada since the Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022.

Canada has sent billions of dollars in financial, military, and humanitarian support to Ukraine, and it is expected that President Volodymyr will encourage further support when he addresses the House.

Additionally, since the beginning of the war Canada has handed down strict economic sanctions on Russia, while waiving all duties on Ukrainian imports.

Canada has also become a haven for nearly 200,000 Ukrainian citizens and returning Canadian permanent residents of Ukrainian origin.

Zelanskyy made opening remarks with Prime Minister Trudeau after arriving at Parliment Hill. “Thank you for your support, you have been with us from  first days of full scale war, from phone calls and real steps, I’m thankful to you, your government, and all the Canadians.”
