Thunder Bay’s public school board has announced the full expansion of its one-to-one laptop program.

All students in the high school system will receive their own personally assigned laptop equipped with Microsoft Office, which will remain with the student throughout their time in high school.

According to the school board, the laptops will provide the students with notetaking and organization tools, learning applications that cater to one’s specific needs, and accessibility features to accommodate all learners.

The program got underway in the fall of 2022 with all grade 9 students receiving a laptop. Those students have moved to grade 10 this fall and all new incoming grade 9 students, as well as grade 11 and 12 students, are now equipped with laptops.

The One-to-One Laptop Program was launched and funded entirely by the Lakehead District School Board.
