Number 63 is putting on the “C”!
The Boston Bruins announced Wednesday that Hammonds Plains native Brad Marchand has been named their 27th captain in the franchise’s history.
He succeeds Patrice Bergeron who announced his retirement in July.
Now entering his 15th NHL season, all with Boston, Marchand won the Stanley cup with the Bruins in 2011 against the Vancouver Canucks.
In a release, CEO Charlie Jacobs, says Marchand is ready for this opportunity and the whole team will learn from his competitive nature and tenacity.
Jacobs adds he is confident Marchand will represent the organization with “heart and grit.”
