Work begins on Memorial Avenue today

By Adam Riley Sep 19, 2023 | 9:00 AM

A section of Memorial Avenue between the Harbour Expressway and Central Avenue will see intermittent closures this week as work crews resurface the roadway.

The project consists of several phases.

Phase One – The southbound curb lane will be closed. As such, access to Memorial Avenue from the west side approaches of Central Ave, 10th Ave, 11th Ave, 12th Ave, and 13th Ave will not be available. This is expected to take one day to complete.

Phase Two – The northbound curb lane will be closed.  In addition, the east side approaches of Central Ave and 11th Ave will be closed. This is also expected to take one day to complete.

Phase Three – The inside and centre lanes of Memorial Avenue will be closed, with traffic permitted in south and northbound curb lanes. Access to Memorial Avenue from both east and west side approaches will be available, however drivers should expect intermittent closures and turning restrictions at intersections. This phase is expected to last two to three days.

Phase Four – Intermittent closures of Memorial Avenue (and applicable side approaches) will take place in sections as the final repaving work progresses. This is also expected to take two to three days to complete.

However, these timelines are estimates and may change as a result of weather and other factors.

Additionally, a section of 22nd Side Road between Rosslyn Road and Broadway Avenue will be closed this week.

CN Rail is performing track repairs which are slated to last until September 22nd.

Motorists are asked to slow down, obey posted signage and drive with caution while traveling through the areas.
