The Fort Frances Lakers will have twelve newcomers when they open the SIJHL this weekend in Dryden against the Dryden GM Ice Dogs.
The Lakers are icing thirteen forwards, seven defencemen and three goaltenders.
Eight saw action with the team last season.
They include Nolan Rideout (Flin Flon, MB), Trever Sanderson (Prince Albert, SK), Clark Scaddan (Thompson. MB), Ian Snooks (Thompson, MB), Ryker Watt (Weyburn, SK), Jack Wood (Rainy River), Josh Greene (Pullman, WA), and Darnell Kempf (Fort Frances).
Watt led the team in goals (24) and points (43) during the 2022-23 campaign.
Jake Orchard of Emo also has SIJHL experience, skating with the defending champion Kam River Fighting Walleye last season.
Orchard, Kempf and Wood are among ten players hailing from the Rainy River District and area.
Noah McPherson, Teagan Wrolstad and Evan Kabel come over from the NorWOSSA champion Fort Frances Muskies.
Emerson Evans, Landon Lowes and Kale Nelson return home after playing with the Kenora AAAU18 Thistles.
Deegan Watson, also born in Fort Frances, played high school hockey in Warroad.
The Laker’s first home game of the season will be on September 29 when they host the Fighting Walleye.
