The Terry Fox Run turns 43 this year.
The run for cancer research will take place on Sunday.
Laurine Goerzen helps organize the Kenora run and says the route is the same as past years.
“It goes around Rabbit Lake to the gazebo and turns around and comes back to Valleyview School,” explains Goerzen.
“It’s a 5 kilometer route, but people can turn around at any point on the route and go back to the school. So if you have small children with you and 5 kilometers is too long, you’re welcome to do any distance you want.”
Goerzen adds that this year they have a couple of different events you can participate in.
“We’re trying to encourage more teams to come out. And we have a fun little competition going with little prizes for teams…the most colourful team, the most combined age and the most legs.”
Last year was the best year ever for the Terry Fox run in Kenora raising more than $35,000.
Overall she says the run has raised more than $605,000 dollar since it’s inception.
