Pump failure closes PA splash pad for summer

By Adam Riley Sep 13, 2023 | 3:00 AM

Despite plans to keep it open until next week, a pump failure has resulted in the splash pad at Prince Arthur’s Landing being closed for the season.

It was initially planned to close on September 17th, along with pads in Northwood and County Park, however city officials say the repairs would have taken three weeks to complete.

“With the arrival of fall temperatures combined with mechanical issues, the decision was made to close a bit earlier than expected,” said Catherine Wilson, Community & Event Development Coordinator.

Wilson offered her thanks to both residents and visitor who came out to use the amenities on the Waterfront this summer, with hopes of seeing people back out next summer.

The Water Garden Pavilion is expected to remain open until mid October, operating daily from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Meanwhile, the city has announced December 1st is the expected date for when the Prince Arthur’s Landing ice rink will open.
