Riverside Foundation goes ‘Back to the 80s’

By Randy Thoms Sep 12, 2023 | 8:50 PM

Riverside Foundation for Health Care is going to take you back to a time of big hair, cassette tapes and the Brat Pack.

“Back to the 80s is the theme of this year’s fall gala.

It will take place on October 21 at the La Place Rendezvous in Fort Frances.

Director Allison Cox says it is going to be a totally tubular time.

“We’ll have our silent auction, live auction, penny table, but we’re coming up with a few different games this year. Everyone’s always used to the normal games we have, like the Heads or Tails, our mystery money box. We’re keeping those, but we’re putting a twist on them so that they’re 80s themed,” says Cox.

The Foundation’s Special Events Committee is still finalizing sponsorship and searching for donations for the auctions.

If you can assist or like to be a sponsor, contact the Foundation office at 807-274-4803 or email allison.cox@rhcf.on.ca.

Funds raised will go to upgrade the surgical suite at LaVerendrye Hospital.

“A few different purchases will be taking place. This includes a dental cart system, micropower surgical tool and new cabinetry. All of this equipment is going to allow our surgical programs to continue to run, especially the Ortho program. This micropower surgical tool is really great for the surgeons to be able to use with MTP joint fusions, which occurs when people have severe arthritis of the foot.”

Tickets will be going on sale later this month.
