The Yarmouth Mariners are looking good heading into the season.
They shutout Valley 6-0 Saturday night in their second preseason game.
Goalie Keegan Warren got the shutout.
He thanked his teammates in front of him.
“The boys played a pretty good game in front of me, the defense locked up the front of the net, and I made some saves when I had to. They bailed me out a couple of times, ” said Warren after the win.
Local player Sam Hope had a couple of goals, Jerome Nadeau, Nathan Carter, Will Chisholm and Ethan Hoffe also scored.
Warren says it was great to be back in Yarmouth.
“The feeling coming down that highway and knowing Yarmouth was within reach, it’s a great feeling. I’ve got a home here. It was great to see so many people come out to the Fishtank and support the team.”
Now the stage is set for the home opener Friday night against Summerside.
The team will raise the 2023 championship banner and hand out rings to returning players.
