By Joe Thomson Sep 11, 2023 | 11:31 AM

A 44-year-old man was taken to hospital with what police describe as serious injuries after an assault in Cole Harbour over the weekend.

It happened in the early hours of Sunday morning, on Cole Harbour Road. Police responded to the scene just after 2:00 a.m. and learned that the victim had been involved in a physical altercation with a 37-year-old man that ended with the 37-year-old hitting the 44-year-old in the head with a skateboard.

The 37-year-old fled the scene but was later found and arrested by the police, who say he damaged a telephone at the Cole Harbour RCMP detachment while he was in custody. He is set to stand trial for assault with a weapon and mischief.
