The Fort Frances Lakers are opening training camp this weekend at the Memorial Sports Centre with thirty-four prospects looking to gain an opening day roster spot.
Six goaltenders, ten defensemen, and eighteen forwards will take part in off-ice fitness testing, skills development sessions and scrimmages.
There are ten returning players with two signed during the off-season.
On Sunday, a select number of players will travel to Dryden for pre-season exhibition games against the Red Lake Miners and Dryden Ice Dogs.
The players will be on the ice at 6:30 p.m. tonight for practice followed by a scrimmage.
They are back on the ice at 8:00 a.m. Saturday for another practice and scrimmage, followed by a third scrimmage at 6:30 p.m. that night.
All scrimmages are open to the public.
The games in Dryden are scheduled for 4:00 p.m. against the Red Lake Miners and at 7:30 p.m. against the Dryden GM Ice Dogs.
All games will be played at the Dryden Memorial Arena.
