A 48 year old man faces several charges, including arson, after trying to set gas pumps on fire.
The incident took place last night around 6:50 at a gas bar on Arthur Street West.
The suspect placed a number of items in front of the gas pump, and tried to douse the items with gas.
He was unsuccessful because he was unble to turn the pump on.
Police also learned the suspect smashed the glass in the door to the gas bar and then sprayed the interior of the building with it.
Thunder Bay Police were able to locate the culprit just minutes later and arrested him.
He faces a number of charges including:
• Arson – Damage to Property
• Mischief Over $5,000 x 2
• Failure to Comply with Undertaking
• Failure to Comply with Release Order
He appeared in bail court this morning and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date.
