In a statement, Assistant Warden Ben Wilson says the inmate was attacked on Aug. 10 and was taken to a nearby hospital where he was treated for his injuries.
He has since returned to the prison where he is recovering.
Just two days earlier, another inmate was sent to the hospital after being assaulted at the maximum-security federal prison located in Renous.

“The safety and security of institutions, their staff, and the public remains the highest priority in the operations of the federal correctional system,” said Wilson in the news release.
