Fire fighters were called to the Simpson Street area after a fire broke out at the European Bakery, which closed five years ago, Sunday evening.
Crews were called to the scene around 7:00 p.m. where they encountered smoke billowing from the structure.
Much of the focus was focused on the rear and roof of the structure.
Fortunately crews were able to get the fire under control quickly preventing it from spreading.
The south side neighbourhood which has seen a number of fires over the last few years, most notably one which saw the destruction of the former Hells’ Angels clubhouse in 2019.
There is no word of any injuries or a cause at this time.
