A motorcyclist is recovering after striking a deer south of International Falls.

The incident happened on Saturday at about 7 p.m. on Highway 53 near County Road 142.

The Minnesota State Patrol says the motorcycle was travelling toward International Falls.

The collision with the animal resulted in the machine going off the road and into the ditch.

A 47-year-old man from Arlington, Minnesota, was taken to Rainy Lake Medical Centre for treatment.
