Synergy North says no major damage was reported to its assets following a massive power outage in the City of Thunder Bay.
It occurred just after 5:00 p.m when a power loss was detected at a pair of transmission stations, according to spokesperson Lesley Racco.
“So it affected our ability to distribute electricity to about 34,000 customers. They were coming from two of our Fort William station on Walsh Street and our Birch Station on the Golf Links area.”
Meanwhile a spokesperson for Hydro One says just after 4:00 p.m. there was a power outage in its transmission system due to damaged equipment.
Racco says this was a significant outage considering Synergy North’s Thunder Bay customer base is around 52,000 customers.
Power was restored a little over 40 minutes after it was knocked out.
