Thunder Bay Fire Rescue were called to a home in Westfort Monday to reports of a structural fire.

Crews arriving on scene were met with black smoke from the rear of the home, initiating a second alarm for more fire fighters.

Fortunately, fire damage was limited to the kitchen with smoke and water damage throughout the home.

Five people suffered varying degrees of smoke inhalation, with two requiring to be transported to hospital by paramedics.
