An off – duty member of the Thunder Bay Police Service is facing impaired driving charges following an incident early Friday morning.

Officers were dispatched to the area of Balmoral Street and the Harbour Expressway to reports of a vehicle being driven by an individual suspected impaired.

He was arrested and charged with Operation of a Conveyance and Operation Over 80mg.

No other details have been released as the charges have not been formally sworn before the courts.

As a result the officer has been placed on administrative duties.

A release from the Thunder Bay Police Service states due to the case being before the courts it cannot comment further on the incident.
