It wasn’t the biggest bag of fish of the day, but the 10.91 lbs of walleye reeled in by Doug McBride and Steve Ballon on Saturday was enough for the Fort Frances area anglers to win their third Emo Walleye Classic.
The first-day leaders topped the field with 23.19 lbs of fish.
The duo also won the tournament in 2005 and in 2008.
That bested runners-up Bill Godin and Greg Swire by almost a pound and a half.
Les Morrison and Oliver Gibbons of Morson slipped from second place on Friday to 11th after finding just 2.5 lbs of fish on Friday.
Mike and Javyn Maxon improved three positions from Friday’s weigh-ins to finish third with 18.74 lbs.
Frank Grunewalk and Frank McWhinnie moved up ten spots to finish fourth with Saturday’s second-largest bag of fish.
Ted Heyens and Kelvin Caul had the biggest catch of the day at 12.73 pounds, which helped move them from the 20th spot on Friday to sixth.
Here are the final results.
