While some people put out their nets this long weekend to bring in a fish, the Ontario Provincial Police were catching something a little faster, stunt drivers.
In the Thunder Bay area alone four drivers were stopped for driving 50 km or more over the speed limit, including a 20 year old resident of Russia who was tagged doing 160 km per hour in a 90 zone.
An Atikokan resident was stopped doing 140 in an 80 zone, meanwhile two Thunder Bay residents were picked up, including one who was tagged doing 94 in a 50 zone.
Driving more than 50 km over the speed limit instantly turns a speeding ticket into a stunt driving charge, the penalties of which include a 30 day license suspension and a 14 day vehicle impound.
