Motorcycles ride the wind for Falls’ resident

By Randy Thoms May 19, 2023 | 9:03 AM

Motorcycle enthusiasts on both sides of the border will be revving up their bikes to help a person in need this weekend.

The Voyageurs Riding Club will stage its annual Charity Motorcycle Ride this Saturday.

Vice-president Carl Janssen says they are a cross-border group that enjoys doing things for the community.

“We gather together as a club, and try to pick someone in need from the community. Then as a club, we decide to put on a ride where we try to gather people, friends, and families to come together to try to help raise some money and some awareness for these people,” says Janssen.

This year, the riding will be helping Kyra Hasbargen of International Falls.

“She has had some medical issues, lengthy, different illnesses that obviously put both her and her family in a financial place. They can use some help.”

The ride will originate from the club’s clubhouse on Highway 11, with registration taking place at 9 a.m. and kick stands up at 10 a.m.

Signs will mark the starting point.

Janssen says if you don’t have a motorcycle, you can still follow in a vehicle.

There is a cost to take part, with a $25 donation for a single rider and $35 for a double.
