RCMP have seized roughly 150,000 illegal cigarettes during a traffic stop on Highway 104 in Dagger Woods.
Officers responded to reports of an impaired driver and pulled the vehicle over during the evening on May 3rd.
The driver showed no signs of impairment, but further investigation led the officers to discovering the cigarettes along with a large sum of cash inside of the vehicle.
Two men were arrested and are facing the following charges:
- Unlawfully Possessing Unstamped Tobacco (Excise Act, 2001)
- Possessing Tobacco on Which Tax has Not Been Paid (Nova Scotia Revenue Act);
- Possessing Tobacco Not Bearing a Prescribed Mark (Nova Scotia Revenue Act)
- Selling Tobacco Products and Raw Leaf Tobacco (Criminal Code of Canada)
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime (Criminal Code of Canada)
Both men will appear in provincial court on June 28.
