N.B. gas prices spike overnight

Apr 2, 2023 | 2:05 PM

Drivers in New Brunswick are paying a lot more for gas on Sunday.

The Energy and Utilities Board upped its maximum prices on Saturday night.

Motorists who fill up with regular self-serve gasoline will now pay a maximum of $1.72 per litre, an increase of eight cents.

Diesel prices, however, did not change and remained at about $1.88 per litre.

Most stations still sell both fuels for a few cents less than the maximum prices.

Furnace oil and propane prices also didn’t change, staying at around $1.68 per litre and $1.07 per litre, respectively.

Editor’s note: An earlier version of this story incorrectly indicated the price increase was due to a carbon tax adjustment. The carbon tax on gasoline will not increase until July 1.
