Ontario Provincial Police, Superior North EMS, and the volunteer fire departments for Dorion and Hurkett were called out onto the ice surface of Lake Superior following a plane crash.
The incident occurred around 5 p.m. when a small passenger plane experienced mechanical issues and completed an emergency landing on Black Bay near Dorion.
However, during the landing the wheels of the Cessna 180 struck an ice ridge, which caused the plane to tip over onto its roof.
Only the pilot was on board at the time of the incident and fortunately no injuries were reported.
A release from the OPP states the incident is not suspicious in nature, and they are in communication with Transport Canada.
A spokesperson for the Transportation Safety Board says no investigators are being deployed as it is considered a Class 5 occurrence, but will continue to monitor the situation.
