The Mariners Centre is looking for a design consultant for expansion.
A request for proposals is now out, and the deadline is the end of this month.
The consultant will will oversee the design of a new aquatics and fitness centre, and a walking track.
Steering Committee chair Nicole Albright says this is where the project gets real.
“Once we get the submissions and we’re able to review them, this project will be hitting the ground running.” said Albright.
Once the design phase is done, a construction tender will be issued.
Albright hopes to have shovels in the ground by late summer of 2024.
“As long as we stick to our timeline. We have an excellent project lead in Marc Brophy, he’s making sure we’re staying on track. We should see things start to happen later next year.”
All-three levels of government provided 29-million dollars for the project in October.
It’s the largest regional public project ever for the Town and Municipality of Yarmouth and the Municipality of Argyle.
