‘Sticker Up’ Campaign Starts Today

The Ontario Nurses Association is at the bargaining table with the Ontario Hospital Association seeking improvements in care for patients, staffing and wages.

Bargaining began on January 30th and will continue until March 3rd, however a new campaign has kicked off today as part of those talks.

“Nurses across Ontario will be wearing a sticker while they’re at work, or at home or out in the public, that is meant to show support for the bargaining team that is at the table,” says Trevor Cava, a registered nurse. “As well as support for the things we want to see out of bargaining.”

According to Cava, who is a member of ONA Local 73, things have steadily gotten worse over time and the pandemic was no help either.

“From a nursing perspective we are starting to see that burnout really hit us hard. Nurses are leaving the profession, they’re going to new careers and new opportunities and its leaving nurses short on the floor.”

Throughout February a social media campaign will also play out, additionally on the 23rd nurses across Ontario will be holding information pickets at hospitals and at MPP offices.
