Kingsway Inn Murder Suspects Arrested

City police have made arrests in the city’s last homicide of 2022.

In the death of Ivan Achneepineskum, Thunder Bay Police located the 21 year old victim at the Kingway Inn on Dec. 24, 2022 after concerned calls from his family.

Police identified three suspects who have been arrested.

One suspect was arrested at the airport on Monday, while the other two were located Kasabonika Lake First Nation (located north of Sioux Lookout) and Webequie First Nation on Wednesday by members of the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service.

All suspects have been remanded into custody.

Accused:

  • Taliyah Shermaine Faith WABASSE, 18, of Webequie First Nation, is charged with Second-Degree Murder
  • Draydin BLUECOAT, 20, of Webequie First Nation, is charged with Second-Degree Murder
  • Jayven River Greg SPENCE, 19, of Kasabonika Lake First Nation, is charged with Second-Degree Murder.

The investigation remains ongoing.
