NB Power is expanding the number of contractors involved in its Enhanced Energy Savings Program.

Launched in September, thousands of New Brunswick households could be eligible to get a free heat pump and insulation upgrades.

Homeowners who use electric baseboard heating and have a combined income of under $70,000 are eligible and those in that income bracket with another heating source can get free insulation upgrades.

Greenfoot Energy Solutions is currently the only company involved in the program after it became the successful bidder.

But recent concerns from other contractors in the industry prompted the Crown utility to seek more companies.

NB Power will issue a Request for Qualification for heat pump and insulation contractors on November 10.

Eligible customers accepted into the program will be able to choose from any qualified contractor in their service zone.
