High school sports could be on hold by a prolonged strike by CUPE members.

With schools closing on Friday,NorWOSSA playoffs would be prohibited from going ahead as planned next week.

 

Meantime, Atikokan’s Northern Lakes wrapped up its regular season in the NorWOSSA A division.

The junior boys’ volleyball team beat St. Thomas Aquinas in two straight games to put themselves in playoff position.

Scores were 26-24 and 25-13.

In senior boys’ volleyball, Northern Lakes fell in three games by scores of 8-25, 9-25 and 14-25.

In basketball, the junior girls lost 31-17, while the seniors dropped a 51-22 decision.

The International Falls Broncos varsity girls’ volleyball fell in three straight games to Rush City in the Section 7AA championship semi-final.

Scores were 11-25, 9-25 and 19-25.

The game was played in Hermantown.
