The federal NDP leader noted the lack of cell service after Hurricane Fiona during Question Period yesterday.
Jagmeet Singh says telecommunications companies are not putting in place the right infrastructure to be prepared for extreme weather.
“When will this government force those companies, who are fully regulated by the federal government, to put in place the necessary infrastructure, so families don’t get disconnected ever again?’ said Singh.
Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland responded, saying cell service is a priority in good times and during disasters.
She says they’re working hard with cellphone companies to make sure they’re giving the best service possible to Canadians.
Today, I spoke with @MikeSavageHFX and @FureyAndrew about the devastating impacts of Hurricane Fiona.
