Races Now Established in Fort Frances

There will be a need to cast votes in Fort Frances.

Councillor Andrew Hallikas has filed nomination papers in a bid to become mayor.

He will be up against former Councillor Ken Perry for the seat being vacated by June Caul at the end of her term.

Public School Board Trustee David Kircher will seek a seat as councillor.

He’s the seventh candidate to register for the six seats available in October’s election.

Around the district, in Atikokan. Gord Martin is the eighth person to run for councillor.

Andrea Maggrah has filed for the trustee position on the Northwest Catholic District School Board representing the Atikokan area.

In Alberton township, incumbent Tyson Dennis has filed for re-elected as councillor.

He was been appointed to council in April, filling a vacancy created by the resignation of Jennifer Johnson.

Two more names are on the list for councillor in LaVallee township.

Michael Hyatt and Stephen Loshaw join six others vying for the four spots.

Two more names in the race for councillor in Emo as well.

Gary Judson and Gerald Wieringa are the latest to file.

A fifth name has been added to the ballot for councillors in Chapple Township.

Trish Neilson has joined the race.

Two incumbents councillors are now seeking re-election in Rainy River.

Martin Kreger and Neil Ivall have made it a seven-way race for the six seats in that community.
