Four More Medals For N.B. At Canada Summer Games

Team New Brunswick continues to rack up the hardware at the Canada Summer Games in Niagara, Ont.

New Brunswick athletes took home four more medals on Thursday, bringing the total so far to 10.

Wrestlers Kara Steeves, Vivian Kutnowski, and Kai LeBlanc each garnered bronze medals.

Para swimmer Jesse Canney struck gold in the 200-metre individual medley para for his sixth medal of the game.

Men’s soccer action saw New Brunswick fall to Ontario 2-nil in the semi-finals. We will play Alberta in the bronze medal game on Friday afternoon.

Other action on Friday will see the women’s box lacrosse team play a placement match against Saskatchewan. The lacrosse players lost 7-6 in triple overtime against Quebec on Thursday.

The triathlon team participates in the mixed team relay. Thursday’s triathlon super sprint competition saw Team New Brunswick’s men finish Yannick Dupuis (18th), Kieran Everett (23rd) and Alexandre Comeau (24th) and the women’s finish Emerson Scott (27th) Lydia Bodechon (28th) and Kirsten Simpson (29th).

Tennis returns to the court on Friday for consolation placing against Nova Scotia.

The women’s basketball team plays Nova Scotia and the men will tip off against Newfoundland and Labrador.

The baseball team will face Manitoba in a consolation placing match.

The men’s beach volleyball faces Yukon for placing while the women’s team plays Quebec in a semi-final match.

The mountain bike men’s and women’s sprints occur Friday morning along with the open water swim for both men and women.
